Movie Under the Stars

We didn't do a whole ton today. Ray took Seb back to the bike park this morning to "practise" his technique. Seb met some other kids and had a few interesting conversations. He learned the ages of some of the kids there. I think this was a little "humbling" for him, but it also showed him what can be done, and in true "Seb" style, he took the plunge and did the little jump. He is catching on really quickly, and seems to enjoy the mountain biking. It suits his playful personality!! He is really brave and after sizing up the "challenge" in front of him, he is also really capable in executing it!! Bravo Seb!!
After Seb's bike adventure and "junk food" for lunch, Annabelle, Seb, and I went into the library in Squamish. Seb chose a book, Annabelle and Seb played games on one of the computers, and then we went to the park and played on the swings and various other equipment. Still good fun...even for adults!!
after dinner we headed back into Squamish to The Squamish Wind Festival for the Arts to watch the Black Panther Movie. We got there a little early and got a good position in which to set up our chairs. We got there about 8 and had a wander around but there really wasn't much going on despite all the hype and advertising! The First Nations put on a little song and dance show, and then the movie started. I thought the kids were going to sleep in the middle, but no, they both said they wanted to watch it through, so we did. All enjoyed it, but I didn't get much discussion on it!! It was really violent, really loud, extremely creative, amazing photography and special effects. And I thought it also made a loud political statement about our times. There was a definite positive emphasis on women (the kings guard was all women), on race (set in a highly developed African State), inclusivity (a CIA white man on their side), good vs evil, and many more subtleties!
We made a quick get away at the end, and after the short drive home (8 minutes) everyone dispersed to bed. About 11:15/11:30!!
