Squamish Wind Festival and The Airhouse

After another lazy morning....well lazy for us....Annabelle and Seb were up around 7:30/8:00: Ray was up at 8:30!! I thought children needed less sleep than adults, but it sure doesn't seem that way!! Anyway, we headed back into Squamish this time on our bikes - it's about 5 k - and took in the festival. There was a fair bit going on, but not too much of interest: face painting, circus tricks such as juggling, and walking on stilts, wood carving, screen printing, music....and then, the "Crepe Wagon" which brought forth a big "yes please!" I thought the crepes were a little chintzy, but the kids seem to enjoy them!!
While we were waiting for the crepes we walked across the road to "Axe Wood" an axe throwing opportunity!! To Seb's dismay, he was too young to participate, but Annabelle did with joy. Her very first throw was a "bull's eye!!" Amazing!!! I think the trick was that she watched the girl showing her what to do soooo closely, that she just copied exactly what the girl did and hit the bullseye. None of her other shots held the wood, but she has an incredible eye, and with the right amount of arm strength, she will be dynamite!!!
After the crepes we cycled up Government Road to the Airhouse...a trampoline facility. Sadly, they were too busy, but said if the kids came back at 4:30 they could have 2 1/2 hrs for the price of two. So we went home for a late lunch, and then Ray took them back over for 4:30. They got home at 7:15, exhausted!!! I don't think Anabelle was feeling too well. She seemed to have a bit of a headache, and ate little dinner, and went off to bed. Seb on the other hand ate a lot of dinner, and after reading his library book for a while "The 91 Storey Treehouse" also went off to bed close to 9:30 pm. He is a voracious reader which is great to see in this age of digital print and TV/movies.
